We are not the only region that is blogging during. If you want to have more reading you should check out
Region Norrbotten

Kommunication In The Assambly hall

Serbia has 6 official languages and in the assembly hall there is tools for translation that makes it possible for all to understand. When someone is speaking in his/her language it is translated by interpreter into all the other languages and then played in headphones that you can use. Very clever and including!

Guided Tour In Novi Sad

During our first day in Novi Sad we had a guided walking tour through the city. The city is very pleasant with a lot of people along the streets. As you can see on the pictures below it is very beautiful.

 assambly hall of Novi Sad.

Besides Novi Sad we have visited Sremski Karlovic, Cortanovi, Kovacica and Debeljacki Salas.
In Sremski Karlovic we went to see the first grammar school of the region. The school is still active today and students can come there to study the 8 languages of the region. it is to be regarded as a top-rated educational institution and it is a privilege to be accepted as a student. We also visited the chapel of peace and a local wine yard.
We spent almost a whole day in Kovacica that walked in the footsteps of the local culture. After the workshops we listened to folk music, did some painting and visited an art gallery.
All of the workshops that we have been participating in have been terrific! When I get the time I will try to summarize the best ones here at the blog. Vojvodina got to be the best place to discuss about multicultural topics because of the good examples of different people living together in one place here.
The schedule is full of activities and this was just a bit of all that we have been doing!
Until next time, farewell!

Day 1

Good day to you all, or should I say good night!

Today has been a full day of lectures, workshops and classes. We have been sharing with us our personal experiences from our own country.

The staff employees has been putting on such an amazing work and really showed us the beauty of their hometown.

Even after their scheduled hours they take time to show us and doing their best to meet our needs.

The AER summer academy is suppose to be a place where the next generation of youth can share their idéas, thoughts and aspiration among each other throughout Europe - which in theory sounds, and is great! However, the social part is equally as important, establishing networks and getting to know one and other. A friendship that could even transcend lifetimes.

That is what both me (David) and Louise feels. We have gained so much during these few days and we are looking forward to the upcoming days.

Greetings from Vojvodina!

On our way to Serbia!

Hey ya'll!

So we are right now at Stockholm airport, waiting to board our flight. Luckyl there hasn't been any delays (just watch us jinx it by saying that) and we are super excited!

We are right now discussing our different travels around our world, what we have learned and what we hope to accomplish.

We are both determined to perform well in our different fields, ''The sponge'' Louise with her passion to gain knowledge from all of the great minds that we will encounter. And me ''Just'' David, who is eager to gain more international connections and learn as well as inspire the youth all over Europe.

Introduction

This year the region of Västernorrland is sending two youth ambassadors. I am one of the lucky two!
My name is Louise and I went to Region Sörmland last year to attend to the academy back then.
I loved it!
Especially the theme green efficiency gave me a lot of inspiring thoughts throughout the week and I am looking forward to hear more about how other regions work on integration and multicultural developing. This is one of my favorite topics since I studied social science and is engaged in organizations working with human rights and global justice.  I like to travel to meet new people because I like to learn new things about cultures and to be inspired by other personalities.

I hope that I will get the chance to grow in the meeting with new people during our stay in Serbia, Vojvodina.

As a part of our preparation before the AER summer academy this year I and David visited the The County Administrative Board. They are responsible for the establishment of new citizens in Sweden. They are working actively in our region to cooperate with the municipalities and to create a better social environment for all people.

We met two very kind people called Runa and Assar who both work as developers of integration.  They gave us an introduction and filled our backpack with information about how our region is working with multicultarism, multi-ethnicity and mulilingualism. They told us about their works and the projects they run together with many other officials. The basic principle behind all of their work is to “to improve the establishment of new citizens in the region of Västernorrland”
One good example they told us about is a project called “SOSOV”, which is a project in civil orientation and language education for new citizens. Inside the project they educate communicators already established citizens born in other countries to teach about civic in their own languages to new citizens who speak the same language as they do.

They also told us about their project with the website Information Swedish .
The website is a portal that has been created to make the arrival in Sweden much easier. The site is intended to give answers about Swedish society and which authorities you will come into during the first time in Sweden. It will answer questions like: how do I find a home? What are the rules where I live?

The portal has been built with the help of other newly arrived people so that it will be understood by the people who the information is intended to reach. The site is written in Swedish, Somali, English, French, Arabic, Dari, Persian, and Tigrinya. This is a really good site so if we have any readers interested in moving to Sweden or doing something similar to “information Sweden”, or just curios ones, go see the site!

To be continued.

AER - Summer academy. Introduction

(A) assembling (E) uropean (R) region - Youth summer academy.

Multicultural, Multiethnic and Multilingual regions, Regional diversity for socio-economic growth.

Hey!

My name is David Asplund and I am one of youth ambassadors from Sweden.

There are only a few short days left before we're heading off to Vojvodina, Serbia, where I together with 119 other youth representatives from all Europe will participate and put in nothing, but the finest of work, in order to learn how to bring the democratic life up to a solid surface level, with sustainable solutions and suggestions in order to get the youth involved.

Not only will we, as in me and my PIC (Louise) be sharing with us what we know about the democratic life but we will also be given the opportunity to participate in all kinds of different workshops, field trips and visiting historical areas in the city.

It's a great pleasure to be representing Sweden and I hope to bring back a lot more knowledge then what I left to the academy with.

Only a few days to go! Feel free to spread the blog among your friends/family/organisations, so that all of you who has an interest can follow the progress.
